Mersin Metropolitan Mayor Vahap Seçer distributed school bags filled with stationery supplies to first-grade students at Çeşmeli and Tömük Yeşildere Elementary Schools in Erdemli as part of the “My First Bag” project. This year, the project provided school bags to 19,000 students across 218 schools in 13 districts.

During his school visits, Seçer was greeted with flowers by teachers, students, and parents, and wished the new academic year to be prosperous for students and their families. He also chatted with teachers and received information about the schools. The students welcomed Seçer with the words "Welcome, we love you," while the colorful bags from the Metropolitan Municipality brought joy to the young children.

Seçer held friendly conversations with the students in the classrooms and shared details about the project with the teachers. The teachers expressed their gratitude to Seçer for the educational services provided by Mersin Metropolitan Municipality.

Seçer noted that they provide school bags to every other child starting primary school, focusing on regions with low-income families. "This year, we are distributing 19,000 bags in 218 schools," he said. He emphasized the importance of creating equal opportunities in education and stated that the Metropolitan Municipality works with this understanding. Seçer also mentioned that the "Milk is Yours, Pride is Mersin’s" project is entering its 6th year, and they will continue distributing milk and snacks in low-income neighborhoods.

Seçer added that their support for education would continue to grow, with increased budgets and ongoing support for students in all aspects. He also called on all citizens to contribute to education.
After visiting the school, Seçer stopped by a café in Tömük and met with the locals. He listened to their requests, provided information on the services delivered, and answered their questions.
